Although I wasn't an original member of Don't Techno, this band definitely has had the biggest impact on me. Countless times we would get together and jam on whatever came up, we never really had an agenda and that is what I loved about it. We wouldn't have made the music we did if we just sat around and waited for something to happen. The lifestyle of creating opportunities and great memories was what fueled this band. Spontaneity. I mean we played 4 "last shows"...who does that?! We just wanted to create memories that everyone could share through our music. That's what it was about, getting everyone together and just dancing with no shame and having a good time. We followed the night where ever it took us and didn't look back. These guys will always be my bandmates and best friends no matter what happens or where life takes us. We will forever be connected through the golden days of Don't Techno.

From the early days when we almost called ourselves 'earth, wind, & techno,' to our fourth "final" show, 'don't techno for an answer' became more than just a band. we didn't just play music together. we lived together, we learned together, we grew together, and we all took part in the joy and excitement of life together. for me, 'don't techno' represents a common journey through a remarkable time in our lives that has helped shape who we are today. the lure of music brought us together to become something more than we already were: not just friends, not just bandmates, but brothers in this journey that we call life.
- Andy "Spirit of the stallion" Coad
I was not an original member of the band, but I remember their beginnings, and how much I wanted to be a part of the band. Don't Techno was the first band I really enjoyed playing with. For the first time I was playing in a band where everyone was really excited about what was happening; tasty tunes were being worked from some pretty different perspectives and everyone really knew how to let themselves go when playing live. I’ll always think of my years with Don’t Techno as some of the best, with some rad guys.
- Charley "Spirit of the phoenix" Wheeler
To me, Don't Techno was more a theme than it was a band. The jams simply represented the musical slice of the friendship pie that was in place long before we performed our first song (and I’m no longer looking for a party to crash). Our lives were about dancing, making memories, being pioneers of the night, and the anthems we concocted were an outpour of that lifestyle. When I think of Don’t Techno, musical elements like a stage or an instrument come secondary. Friendships with Andy, Jordan, and Charley – that was Don’t Techno, man. And of course, I dug the tunes we played. If I ever come across kids playing shimmery dance music with jungle salsa drums, and who give themselves animal spirits, and who put up the same disco light at every performance, and who name songs after basketball teams and wildlife, and who have a sound guy that continuously doesn’t know how to ‘crank’ monitors, and spends their nights as brothers running through the lawns and streets of their town…I’m going to proudly tell them about a little group from Greenville, Illinois who was doing it all first.
